Let's start with this...

"Beaches–East York (Ward 19) is an amazing community, but too many residents are feeling squeezed by the rising costs of housing, childcare, and everyday commuting. Instead of flashy promises, we need practical, local solutions that make daily life easier for the families who already call this neighborhood home.

This means building affordable housing on underutilized, city-owned land, expanding childcare spaces exactly where they are needed most, and supporting parents directly through grassroots initiatives like local diaper banks.

Getting around our community should also be safer and more reliable. We need to bridge the gaps in our infrastructure by creating protected bike routes that seamlessly connect neighborhoods, ensuring reliable transit, and making TTC stations safe and fully accessible for everyone.

As our neighborhood grows, developers must step up and contribute their fair share to the vital services we use every day—ensuring that growth funds our parks, recreation spaces, and community programs rather than overcrowding them.

Come October 26th, choose to put your community first, vote Austin Vieira."

Childcare

I want to end Childcare deserts in our neighborhoods. Licensed childcare shouldn't feel like a lottery. I want to make it easier for families in our ward to find childcare and support them with ideas like a diaper bank.

Transit and Bike Lanes

I want to stop the bus bunching on Woodbine, push for a study to improve Main St TTC station to Danforth GO and make safety a priority at Main and Woodbine Subway Stations. Extend protected bike  lanes, improve cycling infrastructure and more!

Housing

Boost affordable housing, laneway and garden suites "pre-approved plans", revitalize dead zones and "residential-over-retail" grants are just some of my idea's for BEY.

Parks & Rec plus my Ravine Strategy

We will try to eliminate program waitlists by optimizing local spaces and renew aging infrastructure. Our top priority is protecting our ravines and parks by restoring native ecosystems, stopping erosion, and building climate-resilient trails.

Prosperity

Let me show you my economic vision which focuses on strengthening local small businesses by supporting new BIAs, revitalizing main streets, and ensuring vacant commercial properties are put back into productive use.

Public Safety

My plan prioritizes safer streets, transit, and neighbourhoods through increased patrols, traffic calming measures, stronger bylaw enforcement, and improved public spaces. It also supports mental health crisis teams to complement police services and enhance community safety.
