Our Parks and Recreation Facilities:

"Community centers, pools, and recreation facilities are the vital hubs of our neighbourhoods, enriching our lives by keeping our communities active, connected, and strong."

Austin Vieira

Modernizing Community Hubs:
From expanding programming at Beaches Rec to upgrading the aging HVAC at O’Connor, our community facilities must meet rising demand. I will prioritize fixing the Summerville Olympic Pools repair schedule to permanently end recurring summer closures

Infrastructure Synergy:

We must work smarter by maximizing infrastructure synergy. I will coordinate upcoming park upgrades directly with the Basement Flooding Protection Program to combine resources. Furthermore, I will implement a 'Zero-Obstruction' winter maintenance policy for major park trails to ensure they remain safe, clear, and active year-round

Growth Pays for Growth: As density increases, so must our services. I am proposing a Community Facility Fund where new residential developments contribute directly to the expansion of local recreation centres and greenspace maintenance.

Ravine Strategy:

"Our ravines are the green jewels of the city, enriching our communities by bringing nature right into the heart of the urban landscape."

Austin Vieira

Taylor Creek Park:

Infrastructure is failing us. I will fast-track sewer repairs to end sewage leaks and address the root causes of toxic algae. We must pivot to sustainable wetland restoration and partner with the Toronto Nature Stewards to aggressively remove invasive species like Dog-strangling Vine.

Glen Stewart Ravine:

We need a non-negotiable 10-metre development setback to prevent "walling in" our greenspace. I will mandate developer-funded stewardship for canopy protection, and close unofficial side trails to protect rare native flora.

Smalls Creek & Williamson Ravine:

Nature doesn’t follow property lines. I will treat these as a single ecological unit, constructing a dedicated wildlife underpass to ensure safe migration and genetic diversity between the two ravines.
